America: Freedom, Faith and Loyalty

And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.” (President Theodore Roosevelt, 1907) The word ‘patriot’ is defined in the dictionary as “ a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors .” Would you describe president Roosevelt’s speech as patriotic or harsh and selfish? In reality, president Roosevelt verbalized the sentiment of the majority of the American people in the early 20th century.
